Invite to Rota Island

Outdoor Japan magazine who I had been trying to get involved with for quite sometime asked me the other day if I would like to take a trip to shoot Rota Island (located between Guam and Saipan) next month. Rota looks to be an amazing beautiful place with some of the best diving and beaches I've seen. From what I can tell from other photos anyway.
So I quickly ordered myself an waterproof case for one of my cameras as I've always wanted to try a bit of underwater photography. So I'll be flying off to Rota on the 12th of August and back on the 17th. Cant wait!!

This century's longest eclipse next week!!

Hey Everyone! Im looking forward to seeing the eclipse next Wednesday the 22nd. Before I even heard about it I had already organized to take 3 days of work so that I could meet up with a fellow Flickr and Twitter photographer Yoshi-san from Iwate. Hes a pro sports photographer and we will be meeting up here in Fukushima to shoot some soccer games for a couple of days.

Its been 46 years since the last eclipse here in Japan and this will be the longest eclipse this century with the longest "black out" time being around 7 minuets in some places!
Hopefully I will be able to get some pix and will post them if they're any good.

Also went for a drift with Stu for the first time in ages the other day. Also had a play with some animals around his place (which is out in the sticks) Here's a couple of shots from that day.

Giant goat spotted me!

A little too close for comfort

Fukushima city panorama sunset

There has been a surprising amount of nice coloured sunsets in the past couple of months here in Fukushima. Im sure any landscape photographer will be loving it right now. Usually most of the time Im still working at 7pm which seems to be the "golden time" but I snuck away early to photograph quite a nice sunset from the top of Shinobuyama (our mountain in the middle of Fukushima city).
Please click here to view it big like its supposed to be viewed.

Heres one more panorama photo from earlier that same day.

Twilight Time (More Canon G9 test shots)

I was riding home from work and saw a great sunset on the way. So I rode my 50cc scooter (free bike from Harunas grandma) up Bentenyama which is just next to my place. It has a great lookout and view of Fukushima city. This was a 15 second exposure. And with a point & shoot camera! who'd of thunk it!

My first time to see Fireflies!

About 30mins drive from my place is a creek with 1000's of Fireflies I didnt even know were there. This was my first time to see them. They are very difficult to shoot and focus as its pretty much pitch black. This was about 8pm at nite. 190sec exposure
